"Graphology: A Window to Personality Traits."
A Brief Guide to Handwriting Analysis By Donna Hambright
2
What is Graphology? Graphology is the scientific study of the unique components of an individual’s handwriting. Handwriting analysis is a recognized area of forensic science. A certified graphologist is trained to testify in a court of law in cases of signature or document fraud, and in criminal investigations. Graphologists earn $100+ per hour. A professional graphologist does not claim to be psychic, nor does he or she try to “tell fortunes.”
3
Graphological Cues Slant = emotional gauge/social personality
Zones = philosophical nature/physical nature Individual letter formations = individual traits Pressure on paper = intensity of emotions Margins and spacing = social boundaries Baseline = moods Size and Details = ego strength, attitudes toward self image, self-esteem, power of concentration
4
Directions for handwriting analysis in this introductory exercise:
1.Observe graphological cues: slant, zones, margins, and the letters y, t, o. 2. Make a list of inferences based on these graphological cues. 3. In a paragraph, write an explanation of your impressions of personality traits.
5
Slant = Emotional Gauge
Slant indicates the emotional temperament. Strong vertical left slant = introvert Straight vertical/ no slant = ambivert Strong vertical right slant = extrovert
6
Slant Observe: Does this writer appear to be extroverted, ambiverted, or introverted?

Zones Zones indicate the philosophical, mundane, and physical nature if the writer. Tall letters (b,d,f,h,k,l,t) = philosophical, cerebral-intellectual, or religious tendencies Middle letters (a,c,e,i,m,n,o,r,s,u,v,w,x,z) = mundane, or consistent personality traits Long letters (f,g,j,p,q,y,z) = physical urges and material drives Note: some letters occupy more than one zone.

Margins = Respect for Others
Evenly spaced = balanced personality Wide spaces all around = withdrawn, timid Left dominant space = avoidance of others Right dominant space = fear of the future Top dominant space = modesty, respect Bottom dominant space = informality, blunt Narrow margins = frugal, careful with money No margins = no boundaries/anything goes
