2 What is KeyLeader? Mission: to provide a life-changing experience that inspires young people to achieve their personal best through service leadership Kiwanis International’s weekend leadership program Focuses on service leadership Held at residence camp facilities Interact with your “neighborhood” and develop cooperative skills Develop self-confidence, stronger leadership skills and discover your endless potential!

3 Why was KeyLeader started?
In 2003, Kiwanis International assembled a task force of professionals with experience in teaching, coaching, developing and encouraging young leaders. Asked to design a program that moves beyond where most other youth leadership programs stop The result: KeyLeader

4 The Curriculum Large and small group workshops, discussions, and team-building activities All students are given a manual that is used throughout the camp (shown on the right) Workshops are based on principles of service leadership Team-building is done to test what the students have learned

6 Student Facilitator Past KeyLeader Attendee
Leads a “neighborhood,” or group of 8-10 participants Gains personal bonds with participants while challenging them with various leadership activities Assist the lead facilitator throughout the weekend

7 Lead Facilitator The host of the KeyLeader program throughout the weekend Responsible in directing the student participants/facilitators. Each Lead Facilitator comes from a huge range of backgrounds/life experiences

8 Types of Registration Student Participant, $250
Key Club Member, $225 ($25 scholarship provided by Kiwanis International ) Student Facilitator, $175 Adult/Chaperone, $115

9 Student Participant Registration cost - $250
Must be between the ages 14-18 Promoting 8th grader, high school student, Key Club member, KIWINs, and non-Key Club member Arrive between 4-6PM to check in and registration at the camp

11 Student Facilitator Registration cost - $175
Must be between the ages of 14-18 Must have attended a KeyLeader camp previously Fill out online registration application If accepted, arrive at 2PM for a mandatory meeting/training

Learn how to become a better leader and enhance your leadership skills Gain a new insight and fantastic experience of KeyLeader A once in a life-time opportunity to help and make a positive impact on the lives of others

13 Adult/Chaperone Registration Cost - $115 Must be age 21 or older
Responsible for reinforcing the rules at the camp

14 How do I register for KeyLeader?
Go to and click “Register now” on the right hand side Find a location near you and select desired camp Register as a regular Student or apply as a Student Facilitator Student registration fee: US$250 Discounts: US$225 registration fee for dues paid Key Club members $25 scholarship provided by the Kiwanis International Foundation Student Facilitator registration fee: US$175 Create an account Complete the forms required Obtain a confirmation of your order on the last screen Required camp forms will be ed

15 District Budget CNH Key Club has allocated $2,100 for Key Leader Scholarships That’s 15 scholarships per camp X $35.00

16 This scholarship will be available for the first 15 individuals that apply with the discount code
Will only apply to registration cost Only available for camps in CNH The redemption happens when registering for the event – instant discount Compared to previous years where it was applied as a reimbursement No extra forms necessary!

Available to the first 10 Key Club members per camp CNH Key Club District Discount Code: CNHKC1617 Available to the first 15 Key Club members per camp More specific information on the procedure of code redemption will be released soon. Spread the word around to club officers and members!

18 Requirements Must be between the ages 14-18 to attend
Register online and choose payment option Print out and complete the mandatory camp forms (medical and community values form) Organize transportation to and from the camp

19 KeyLeader Checklist Clothing (check weather before packing)
Closed-toe shoes (non slip-ons!) Comfortable clothing Appropriate sleepwear Bedding Materials Sleeping bag, pillows, etc. Toiletries and a towel Shampoo/conditioner Soap Toothbrush/toothpaste Refillable water bottle Medical and Community Values form

20 KeyLeader Reminders Food and beverages are not allowed!
Don’t bring expensive items with you: the camp is not responsible if it gets lost! If taking medication, it must be provided and listed on your medical form! There is NO signal and limited chances to WiFi so make sure to let your parents know!

Ben Pendry Worked in the field of education and leadership development as a facilitator, curriculum developer, and fundraiser Key Club alumni Passionate about growing potential young leaders
