Day 1: Students will write an argumentative essay draft using what they know about the five types of relationships to support a point of view about all relationships being competitive in nature in an 82 minute block.
Day 2: Students will make edits to an argumentative essay draft that about symbiotic relationships in an 82 minute period.

7. Essay Assignment
Due: December 14: Relationship essay draft is due; Final essay is due December 16
"All relationships are competitive." Write an argumentative essay of words in support of this claim or refuting this claim. In your essay, use the vocabulary words symbiosis (or symbiotic relationships), predator/prey, competition, parasitism, commensalism, mutualism. Your grade will be based 50% on content (use of each vocabulary word) and 50% on English Writing Conventions (according to the READ point writing Rubric). If you use references, quote them using APA format. Your essay is to be shared through Google Classroom.
Writing hints: Use a topic sentence; use relevant and interesting examples to support your claim; use transition and linking words; use verbs precisely; use a concluding sentence that explains the topic's significance; use correct grammar, spelling, punctuation and capitalization.
