3. D.O.RIBERA DE DUERO
Located also in the central plateau of the peninsula, neighbouring RUEDA, RIBERA DE DUERO is the fastest-growing premium red wine area in Spain. In 1982 there were seven wineries only. Today there are more than 240.
Long, hot summers (40ºC), extremely cold winters (-18ºC)
Located at the riverbank of the Duero river, limestone and chalky soils. Its muscular, fruit-driven style attracts high-income, younger consumers than Rioja.

5. CRUZ DE ALBA
CRIANZA
100% Tinta Fina grapes (this is the name the variety tempranillo receives in Ribera de Duero)
Cruz de Alba is born from vines planted in 1971 in what is called the Golden Mile of Ribera de Duero area, neighbouring Vega Sicilia.
The vineyards are treated following biodynamic standards. Hand picking takes place during end of September – beginning of October. The wine has aged for 15 months in new American and French oak casks. This was followed by another 10 months in our underground bottle racks.
Dark cherry red colour, nearly black. On the nose it unfolds powerful aromas of seasoned fruit, black cherries and black fruit over a discreet balsamic background from the quality wood used in the ageing. Noticeable tones of fresh coffee beans, cedar wood and graphite. Powerful in the mouth with tannic character, almost meaty.
