Pierre Omidyar Creator of eBay

Biography Omidyar was born in Paris, France of Iranian parents who had been sent by his grandparents to attend college. His mother, Elahe Mir-Djalali Omidyar, earned his doctorate in linguistics at the Sorbonne and is a renowned academic. His grandfather was a surgeon. The family moved to the US when he was six. Omidyar grew up in Washington, DC, Pierre's interest in computers began at the Potomac School, where he began to rise when he was in the 9th grade. He attended St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland. He graduated from St. Andrew's in 1984, and in graduated with a degree in computer science from Tufts University. Shortly after, Omidyar went to work for Claris, a subsidiary of Apple Computer, where he helped write MacDraw. In 1991 he co-founded Ink Development, dedicated to creating user interfaces computer using a pen and tablet, instead of devices such as a keyboard and a mouse. Later the company was renamed later as an e-commerce company called: eShop.

Pierre was 28 and on a weekend you think of the idea of creating an auction site where unknown users could do business with each other through their computers. The amazing thing about the creation of Pierre realize is that in just one weekend. The site was launched on Labor Day with a September 4, 1995 with the name "The Web auction".
