3 Agenda Cloud PBX Calling Options Cloud Connector Edition?
Preparing for CCE Installing CCE Running CCE

4 Cloud PBX Calling Options

5 Welcome to the battle of the acronyms!
CCE – Cloud Connector Edition OPPCH – On Premises PSTN Connection via Hybrid (Deployment) PSTN – Public Switched Telephony Network CPC – Cloud PSTN Conferencing PBX – Private Branch Exchange (telephony box)

6 “It makes the phone ring”
What does this do? Enables a Cloud Hosted user to make and receive PSTN Calls “It makes the phone ring”

7 What are my options? Cloud PBX with PSTN Calling service
Consume PSTN Calling directly from the cloud Available in United States, United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, Preview starting for France and Spain Cloud PBX with on-premises PSTN connectivity Available worldwide! Hosts users online, connects via on premises Skype for Business Cloud Connector Edition Hybrid offering that contains a set of virtualized machines Expansion of the O365 service to on premises Cloud managed device Skype for Business Server existing deployment Lync 2013 or Skype for Business 2016 Hybrid is required On premises pool without online services

8 High Level Overview; Cloud PBX

9 Cloud PBX with CCE

10 Cloud PBX with Existing Deployment

11 No Cloud PBX

12 How to Decide?

13 Cloud Connector Edition?

14 High Level Overview

15 CCE Positioning It is a direct extension of SFBO service, it is NOT a stand alone piece of infrastructure It must be run as a service and run as part of the service: 99.99% reliability SFBO controls updating, SFBO Ops can see logs Admin can configure their site, monitor their site but NOT directly manipulate site Core Scenarios: Trial: Simple to Obtain, Setup Deploy: Simple to Setup, Simple to Migrate to Use: Simple to Maintain, Operate & Monitor

16 Release History: Release History: V1.34, 04/11/16 First public Release
V1.38, 06/XX/16 Fixed Android client bug V1.41, 08/15/16 Autoupdate & Service Resiliency V2.X, 01/2017 customer feedback integration

17 Auto Update? “It is a direct extension of SFBO service, it is NOT a stand alone piece of infrastructure” Update schedule can be set via SfB Online Powershell Update Schedule honors local timezone of host Disabling auto update is possible but unsupported

18 The elephants in the room…

19 Feature Gaps We are listening to your feedback
Media Bypass Cloud Dial Plans Co Existence with existing SfB Pools Call Routing Please register at and continue providing feedback

20 Hosted CCE? CCE is scaled for 70 percent internal traffic, 30 percent external traffic Hosted CCE means 100 percent external traffic Current CCE architecture will not be the final one Updates are NOT optional Tweaking scripts & adding additional machines is unsupported CCE does not have API’s and is not MT aware

21 3rd Party CCE Appliances: Supported?
Yes. By the 3rd party. There is no 3rd party CCE qualification program Stand Alone CCE connected to separate SBC will always work

22 Preparing for CCE

23 Cloud Connector (HA) Overview
All Cloud Connector appliances are configured with all PSTN gateways in the Site. All PSTN gateways have sip trunks defined to all Cloud Connector appliances in the Site. If Edge server is unavailable, outbound calls will succeed, but inbound calls will fail. Edge PSTN Korneel SfB Online user in Internet Mediation Domain Controller for Cloud Connector PSTN GW1 Storage PSTN GW2 Dave SfB Online user in internal network Cloud Connector 1 PSTN GW3 SfB Online Infrastructure Edge Domain Controller Mediation Domain Controller for Cloud Connector Thomas SfB Online user in Internet Storage Cloud Connector 2 Sip Traffic Media Traffic

24 Understanding the Concepts
Users are assigned to a single PSTN Site One or more Cloud Connector(s)are assigned a single PSTN site Usually, a PSTN Site is a customer location Non-functioning means failover inside PSTN Site SfB Online will try to get the failed instance back Centralizing is not great (think codecs!)

25 What must I do? Verify no Lync or SfB is deployed On Premises
Ready a host with Server 2012 R2 with Hyper-V Download and install the CCE MSI Have your ISO file ready (windows 2012 R2 standard) Update the host with latest windows updates Host must be a dedicated machine All requirements must be met

26 Gathering Information
Printable list at

27 Hardware Requirements
Large (500 calls) Large (500 calls 64-bit dual processor, six core (12 real cores), 2.50 gigahertz (GHz) or higher 64 gigabytes (GB) ECC RAM Four 600 GB (or better) 10K RPM 128M Cache SAS 6Gbps disks, configured in a RAID 5 configuration Three 1 Gbps RJ45 high throughput network adapters Small (50 calls) Intel i quad core with Intel 4600 Graphics (no high end graphics needed) 32 GB DDR non ECC 2 1TB 7200RPM SATA III (6 Gbps) in RAID 0 2 1 Gbps Ethernet (RJ45)

28 Office 365 Requirements SfB Online working and deployed
Tenant Admin Access ADFS or fully cloud in place DNS Names deployed DNS Names ready for CCE 2 required, AP and MR sip.sipdomain Is not allowed Vanity domain is required

29 Network Requirements Host must have Internet Access
Virtual Machines must have access to windows update OR local WSUS server 4 internal IP addresses 1 external IP Address 1 public certificate for Edge Correct ports must be opened More info on

30 Installing CCE

31 Installation first steps
Use set-ccappliancedirectory to set local install folder Use set-ccsitedirectory to set file share for HA deployment Use set-ccexternalcertificatefilepath for the public certificate Use Export-CConfigurationSampleFile and edit file Use start-CCdownload to initiate download of bits Create internal virtual switch “SfB CCE Corpnet Switch” Create external virtual switch “SfB CCE Internet Switch”

32 During the download.. Connect to SfB Online Powershell Run
Set-cstenanthybridconfiguration -tenant < TENANT ID > -useonpremdialplan $false Set-CsTenantHybridConfiguration -PeerDestination <External Access Edge FQDN> -UseOnPremDialPlan $false Set-CsTenantFederationConfiguration -SharedSipAddressSpace $True For users: Set-CsUser -Identity "<User name>" -EnterpriseVoiceEnabled $true -HostedVoic $true -OnPremLineURI <tel:+phonenumber>

33 Prepare the Template File
Run Convert-CcIsoToVhdx -IsoFilePath <Windows ISO File Path, including file name> this can take up to 5 hours Uses the template machine IP

34 Register and Install On the host server; Register-CcAppliance
Multiple hosts in PSTN Site? On the second, third and fourth run Publish-CCAppliance On all Install-CCappliance

35 Multiple PSTN Sites? 4 Cloud Connectors per PSTN Site
1500 concurrent calls per site N-1 Multiple site considerations edge pool names must be identical within a PSTN site, different between PSTN Sites Each PSTN site must have a unique site name in the configuration file Users must be assigned to a PSTN site if more PSTN Sites are deployed

36 Multiple PSTN Sites Cmdlets
Creating a new PSTN site New-CsHybridPstnSite -Identity <PSTN Site Name> -EdgeFqdn <External Access Edge FQDN> Getting an overview of PSTN Sites Get-CsHybridPstnSite Updating a PSTN Site Set-CsHybridPstnSite -Identity <PSTN Site Name> -EdgeFqdn <External Access Edge FQDN> Removing a PSTN Site Remove-CsHybridPstnSite -Identity <PSTN Site Name> Setting user settings Set-CsUserPstnSettings -Identity <User Name> -HybridPstnSite <PSTN Site Name>
