Advocate for self and others Gives you a voice and teaches you how to advocate for yourself and you community Educating/Training community and public Point of Impact- Teaching, learning and advocating

To develop leaders with Developmental Disabilities that can teach others, the skills to stand up for their rights and choices and address changes in a productive way

Providers- Both companies and individual Community members

9 What we collect for membership
Complete application Membership dues Releases Media, liability Specific needs in case of an emergency

10 Membership Cost Breakdown
Membership fee- $25 a year- participant and agency What this covers for individuals: Year1: 1-12 week course, book, graduation certificate, membership card Can attend more than one set of sessions, support and resources for advocacy, newsletter Year 2 on: Ability to take refresher courses, membership card, invites to projects, supports and resources for advocacy, newsletter What it covers for agencies-2 books and certificate, additional books at additional cost

11 Class Structure 12 week courses- Meeting on Mondays at 6:00 pm
7 weeks- class education (Full participation- all individuals, including staff) 4 weeks- project building (Project presentation- may take additional time) 1 week- graduation and presentations Class fluctuation: This is a new program and we will be making adjustments as needed. We want this program to be extremely successful and make a positive impact

Communication- Verbal and Nonverbal Feelings and Values-What is important to you Advocacy and Leadership Team Building Rules and Laws/Rights and Responsibilities Public Speaking Project development and completion Graduation

13 Outside Activities Each class group chooses the following activities that take place during their class session period Project- protecting waiver from further caps and cuts 2 socialization activities- Movie Night and Trolley ride Fundraiser- serving breakfast at Applebee's A community service activity- Food drive for needs
