Communication & Language Literacy *Dear Zoo!- Writing to the zoo for a suitable pet. Describing animals. *The Great Pet Sale- labeling and sequencing the story. *Asking questions about people’s pets. *Asking questions to visitors. *Writing a wanted posters for a criminal. *Labeling people who help us. *Role play: Pet Shop, Vets, Fire Station, Police Station. Mathematics *Estimating the number of animals. *The Great Pet Sale- Using money- paying for amounts in a pet shop- adding two amounts together. *Comparing length- using cubes to measure. *Comparing weight using a balance. *Subtracting. *Counting in twos. *Ten Town- focus on writing teen numbers. Personal, Social, Emotional Development *Talking about likes and dislikes related to animals and pets. *Meeting and talking to a range of people who help us. *Children will talk about keeping safe and healthy. SEAL unit- Going for Goals- the children will be setting achievable goals and targets. People and Pets! Reception Spring Understanding of the World *Making a pictogram on the computer- showing popular pets. *Describing our visit to the pet shop. *Learn about and have visits from a variety of people who help in the community. (PSDA vet, Police, Fire, School Nurse, Vicar, Guide Dogs). *Talking about how to care for pets Physical Development *Letter formation- cursive writing. *Animal dances- moving in different ways like different animals. *Continue to practice changing for PE, zipping up coats. *Gymnastics- Balancing. *Understanding a healthy diet. *Hand washing activity. Expressive Arts and Design *Role play: Pet Shop, Vets, Fire Station, Police Station. *Paintings of pets- mixing colours. *Making fish tanks in shoe boxes. *Making healthy eating plates. *Accessing creative provision to create pet pictures/models. *Animal dances- moving in different ways like different animals.
