9 Placements in Medicine & Healthcare
Internships abroad should not be regarding as a “training course” for medical students Do no Harm - Union College requires that all student interns placed in Medicine or Healthcare settings are only allowed to participate in healthcare activities abroad in which they are fully trained or qualified to do in the USA. Interns who are not qualified can observe complex work and complete only routine tasks. This protects both the patient and the intern. Exposure to maximum involvement beyond abilities – not a benefit. Taking part in experiences that breach ethics and best practice can have a negative effect on student records/entry into medical school and other opportunities. Waiver must be signed by Union students selecting a Medicine or Healthcare placement indicating understanding and compliance to the above statements. WHY US?
