What do scientists do if their hypothesis is false or partially true?

4. Experimental Design
Independent Variable- the factor that is manipulated or changed throughout the experiment
Dependent Variable- the factor in an experiment that scientists want to observe; this variable changes due the independent variable
Control Group- the group in an experiment that receives no treatment; this is used to be sure that the experiment is working correctly
Experimental Group- the group in an experiment that is actually being tested
Trials- the number of times an experiment is repeated; a series of tests performed over a period of time

Experimental studies allow scientists to determine what causes a phenomenon (natural event).

Controls are conditions that are kept the same.
