An apprenticeship lasts 1-2 years We offer two levels Advanced apprenticeship – level 3 Higher apprenticeship – level 4 Either you or we find the job Learn at work Attend college part time You must have already have some IT skills

Typical IT employers in Herefordshire Small, 2-20 employees Either software development Web Vertical applications (industry specific) or IT support Geographically spread (Kington, Ross, Micheldean, Monmouth, Eardisley, Bromyard) Current apprentices number 8 (5 at L3, 3 at L4)

Earn a real salary Government set minimum wages
Advanced apprenticeship – Level 3 16-18 years old £2.68 19 + £2.68 in year 1 19-20 £5.03 21 + £6.31 Higher apprenticeships – Level 4 16-17 years old £3.72 18-20 £5.03

Earn a real salary Employers invest time in training you
You get paid for hours at work and at college In practice apprentices with IT skills get paid more than minimum Must be competitive with jobs you may already have

Apprenticeship framework Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals (work based) Either BTEC Level 3 Sub-diploma in IT (college based) or Foundation Degree in ICT (college based) Functional skills level 2 in English, Maths & ICT Employee rights and responsibilities (minor)

72 credits 540 guided learning hours (logged at work) 2 mandatory units (12 credits) 5 optional units (60 credits) Optional units chosen by employer and apprentice matched to the job

Functional skills Level 2 English Functional skills Level 2 Maths Functional skills Level 2 ICT Completion of the Employees Rights and Responsibilities(ERR) workbook. This is an Edexcel (awarding body) workbook

Assessment In the workplace Should be directly related to the job
Assessment by evidence Not done by unit If a task covers several parts of different units, then it can be used as evidence for all those parts Must show capability over time Log of hours required

How evidence is collected
Direct observation of the learner’s performance by their assessor Outcomes from oral or written questioning Products of the learner’s work Personal statements and/or reflective accounts Outcomes from simulation, where permitted by the assessment strategy Professional discussion Assignment, project/case studies Authentic statements/witness testimony Expert witness testimony Reflective accounts Evidence of Recognition of Prior Learning.

Qualification Individual certificates sent to Apprenticeship Certificates England (ACE) Overall certificate issued
