The challenge Nationally we need to improve achievement at level 2 in Maths and English by age 19 Staff need to be confident in both their personal skills and teaching approaches for Maths and English Learners need to follow the right path and study for the qualification that best suits their needs and aspirations

English available in November Online modules to support personal skills English and Maths Pipelines – a differentiated package of support including courses and resources Regional Specialist Leads for advice and guidance Maths courses How to teach GCSE Maths successfully Introduction to mathematical resilience and the ‘growth zone’ model Developing mathematical resilience Teaching new GCSE Maths specifications Maths Vitaliser for the Early Years Sector CPD Modules (Level 5) for teachers of Maths GCSE resits Englishcourses English Enhancement Programme CPD Modules (Level 5) for teachers of English GCSE resits English Vocational Revitalisers – one day courses to support English teaching in Early Years, Construction, Health & Social Care, and Secure Estates English Workshops and Webinars to support English teaching at Entry Levels English Workshops and Webinars to support English teaching at Level 1 and 2 Half-day workshops to embed English in vocational/academic lessons Half-day workshops to support English in the workplace Personal skills – 12 modules developed. 2 ready now and 10 by end of Oct on FoL.

Teaching the new GCSE specifications - Basingstoke, Greenwich & AN Other Introduction to Mathematical resilience – growth model (1 day) - Abingdon Jan 20th 2016 Developing Mathematical resilience & improving progression (4 days) Maths Vitalisers as last year + Early Years details on request CPD (Level 5) module for teachers of GCSE resits - materials available if required for in house delivery

A bespoke website to provide information, guidance and resources for senior leaders and governors A Strategic Guide including a Health Check and case studies located on the Excellence Gateway We are working with 38 organisations, providing specialist support

Way Forward : Review of Maths and English Functional Skills Qualifications
Open consultation Jan – April 2016 Outcomes by August 2016 Revised set of National Adult Literacy and Numeracy Standards A report with policy recommendations for ministers to include: Breadth of knowledge and skills required for Functional Skills to support learners in life and work The number of guided learning hours needed for learners to achieve the new qualification Currently have an ITT on Mytenders to seek a delivery partner.
