5th grade Snow Day Choice Board
For each snow day AFTER 8 days missed, you must choose one activity from each column to spell SNOW! Be prepared to turn in the work the following school day. Parents must sign and date each box that is completed. Spelling Numbers Only Social Studies Writing Rainbow write. Write all of your spelling words 3 times each. Each time, write it in a new color. Parent signature____________ Do a lesson AND quiz in Compass Learning from the SNOW DAY FOLDER. Create ten vocabulary flash cards from previously covered chapters. Write a fictional story (narrative) about a wild or scary snow day. (30 minute time limit.) Using all of your spelling words, write the word, then draw a picture that represents the word. Write an ERQ on topic covered in Math class, along with a complete answer. Create an original ERQ for a chapter previously covered, and include an answer. Write an opinion essay about what makes a good leader. (30 minute time limit.) Creative words: Write each of your spelling words n a different writing, or font if you can print. Create a board game that reviews a math skill we have covered this year. Include directions and game pieces. Create a game for a previously covered chapter. (Jeopardy, Bingo, a board game, etc.) Include directions and game pieces. Write a persuasive letter to the principal asking for funds to purchase devices for students to use on snow days so teachers can Skype the class at home. Write a story using at least 5 of your spelling words in the story. Words must be used correctly. Create ten word problems and solve. (can be any topic- multiplication, division, decimals, volume, etc.) Complete a Compass lesson in the level 4 Social Studies folder. Be sure to take a quiz on it for complete credit. Write a speech about how bullying effects students, and what needs to be done to stop it. (30 minute time limit.) Draw and color a picture. Then write your spelling words, hiding them within the picture. Complete a KHAN Academy lesson and write a summary of that lesson’s skill. For one chapter in the book, write ten discussion questions, and include an answer key. Write an editorial to the Hancock Clarion about the importance of having a good friend. (30 minute time limit.)
