Technological Skills “Flow Charting”
Content-Objective: Learn how to create flow charts for industrial operations. Language-Objective: Create a simple industrial operation flow chart using Microsoft Office.

Do today’s Starter Quiz! (in Canvas)

Starter Task Draw Your own (1) Task Specification Chart (2) Standard Flow Chart Symbols

Task Specification Chart A chart used to specify the hardware and tasks needed to manufacture an item

Main Class Task 1 Create a Task Specification Chart in Microsoft Word for a technology part manufacture. The part needs to be 12 inches long, 6 inches wide with 3 holes drilled centered along 6 inch side at 3, 6, and 9 inches.

Task Specification Table

Main Class Task 2 Create a flow chart for the manufacture of the robot part. Think of everything the program must do to perform the task specified. The flow chart must also have decision branches inserted for partially completed/rework parts.

Example Flow Chart (Control Input)

Lab Instructions Using Microsoft Word Create a Program Specification Table (see example) use command “insert (tab)”, “table” (5 rows, 6 columns) in Word then fill in details. Add a basic flow chart for controlling the robot to the word document. Flow chart symbols are located under “insert (tab)”, “shapes” Flow chart must show joystick input monitoring, left motor control, and right motor control at a minimum. Save file using your name as the file name. Submit using Canvas. See Module “Programming” and assignment submission link “Lab 1: Program specification table and flow chart”
