Passport /ˈpɑːspɔːt/ Passport is an official document containing personal information and usually a photograph that allows a person to travel to foreign countries.

Visa /ˈviːˌzə/ Visa is an official mark, usually made in a passport, that allows you to enter or leave a particular country. It can be seen basic entries on this sample of visa, such as passport number, name, issuing post, control number, visa type etc. So, remember to carry your passport with visa before you go!

Check-in counter /tʃek-ɪn kaʊnˌtər/
Check-in counter is normally handled by an airline company. Passengers need to hand over their luggage that they do not wish or are not allowed to be carried onto the airplane. Also, passengers need to collect their boarding pass before they proceed their aircraft.

Luggage /ˈlʌɡˌɪdʒ/ Modern travellers usually carry packages containing clothing, toiletries, trip necessities, and on the return-trip, souvenirs etc. Before you go to the airport, remember to check whether you have carry all you need for the trip. Also, it should not outweigh the baggage allowance regulated by your airline company.

Trolley /ˈtrɒlˌi/ A trolley is a unit supplied by an air carrier for customers to transport luggage.

Scale /skeɪl/ Scale is a weighing device with two containers that is free to move up and down. (see the left picture) At the airport, a scale is used to weigh luggage. Weighing scales and systems with digital operators are able to show the weight of every piece of luggage. (see the right picture)

Boarding card/ pass /ˈbɔː.dɪŋ kɑːd/ /pɑːs/
A boarding pass is a document provided by an airline during check-in, allowing a passenger to board the airplane for a particular flight. Looking the picture of boarding pass above, you will find some basic information, including passenger, flight number, group, seat, airport, gate, and date and scheduled time for departure. In some cases, flyers can check in online and print the boarding passes themselves.

Departure board gives basic information about time, flight, destination and gate of a flight. It keeps updating so that the information is accurate.

Departure lounge/ waiting room

Duty-free shop /ˈdʒuːˌti- friː ʃɒp/
At duty-free shops, the goods are free from certain local or national taxes and duties, and they are sold to travelers who will take them out of the country.

Stopover/ layover /ˈstɒpˌəʊˌvər/ /ˈleɪˌəʊˌvər/
This is a short stay in a place that before you arrive in your destination. Some people choose to rest on the chair at the airport, while others prefer to booking a hotel room to refresh themselves. Also, you can hang out at the duty-free shop!

Terminal /ˈtɜː.mɪˌnəl/
At an airport terminal, passengers are able to get on and off aircraft. Inside the terminal, passengers can buy tickets, leave or pick up their luggage, and be checked by security staff.
