STEM Challenge: How to Lift a Load
Challenge: This summer I noticed that the custodians use simple machines when they have to lift or move heavy loads. Your team will engineer a contraption to raise a load off of the table. Points will be awarded by finding the product of the load (in grams) and the lift (in centimeters). Materials: PVC pipe, rulers, centimeter cups, small plastic cups, tape, KEVA blocks, yarn, paper clips, other materials approved by the teacher Criteria: The machine must: * work without direct human contact with the load * be free standing
