Operating Environment
REFORM Funding: Focus and Distribution Training and Qualifications delivery All have different perspectives: Training/Learning Providers, AOs, Employers, SSCs. The mechanisms are changing. SSC perspective: Access to funding requires demonstration of employer commitment to support the sector. Operational costs Business growth Business survival Customer satisfaction Competition Legislation and Regulation

How can we work together?
DEVELOP PROJECT PARTNERSHIPS to: ATTRACT young people to the sector DEVELOP the existing workforce at all levels SUPPORT employers including SMEs

What do we need to do? SHARE INFORMATION ON NEED USE OUR NETWORKS
TAKE RISKS / INNOVATE / TOLERATE (SOME) FAILURE Share info on need: is there a local requirement for training? We can help frame it to attract funding. Use our networks: to seek out training needs. Take risks: we can help mitigate that. Time to research & develop built in to TP & AO business models but generally not employers; particularly SMEs. We should take Government at their word: there is a large public purse looking for suitable projects. We can help articulate those projects to attract funding and facilitate their delivery. We can help create the market.

LEPs 39 in UK 17 identified Logistics as a priority
9 recognised Logistics as important All negotiating with Government re Local Growth Fund allocations. Funds available April 2015. European £s available 2015 Engagement currently difficult. Raising awareness of Skills for Logistics’ abilities.

Good Distribution Practice Bonded Warehousing “Lean and Green” Looking for appropriate partners to steer their development Looking for ideas for further bids: H&S, Legislative/Regulatory change A word about NOS: Does anyone not know what they are? Focus on occupations. Likely to have a role in the development of future Trailblazers. Eg. In Partnership with IoC to develop NOS which could be turned into quals for a Trailblazer

How is the CtW Funded? The Logistics Guild Credit Union Employer
Skills Funding Agency Self funding Regional Growth funding Local enterprise grants There are various ways components of the Certificate to Work can be funded: The Logistics Guild Credit Union – Individual learners may be able to obtain a loan Employer – Employers sponsor learners through the Certificate to Work programme Skills Funding Agency – Funding may be available for the accredited qualifications Certificate to Work
