Pico Della Mirandola’s IMAGE OF MAN
Why do you suppose Mirandola refers to God in the plural and as He? What “power” is it that God has granted humans? What does this give them power over? How does this support the new education focus of Humanism, in terms of it’s relation to previous scholarship (Scholasticism)? Find the word HONOR on right column. What are the limits of humans? If the Renaissance is a rebirth, what will humans have the power to do in the coming years? Give any example you can think of to support this.

According to Machiavelli, what must never be neglected?
“A prince ought to have no other aim or thought, nor select anything else for his study, than war and its rules and discipline; for this is the sole art that belongs to him who rules, and it is of such force that it not only upholds those who are born princes but often enables men to rise from a private station to that rank. And, on the contrary, it is seen that when princes have thought more of ease than of arms they have lost their states.
