7 What do they do? Underpins effective KIM for the business area
Advises on improving AND enables knowledge management in the area Ensures the effective receipt, storage, organisation, distribution, protection, preservation and disposal of information Staffed with information professionals trained to support their business area Advise all staff on IM policy and guidance, and use of the organisation’s information systems Monitor information activities to ensure compliance with the law and department policy Have specific roles within the iHub – clear job specs

8 Does it work? Previous role – no iHub structure in place on arrival
Challenging and “painful” for some Clear structure set up – BUT with challenges from senior staff Had to explain the roles & importance for “buy in” Began to see improvement within one year Best practice for the 4 years inspected for KIM Solid foundation gave strong support to others Improved KIM for users – even those wo didn’t “get it” at first Knowledge gained and shared taken to other locations Current Role - early days but looking positive…….
