Who is Eligible for Transportation?
Eligible Medicaid members, including those in a Medicaid Managed Care Plan who have no other means of transportation Medicaid covered service Medicaid approved provider Elderly individuals age 60 years and older residing in their own home to specified locations Members who live within ½ mile of their medical provider and whose health and mobility permit them to walk ½ mile should walk to the medical provider

RI Elderly Transportation Program
Age 60 years and older, not on Medicaid, and; not getting transport from the RIPTA Ride Program for those in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) transportation program. Transportation to and from medical appointments, adult day care, meal sites, dialysis/cancer treatment and the Insight Program.

Trip Limitations for Elderly Transportation Program Participants
Transport to medical appointments and meal sites should occur so that the pick-up at the residence and the drop-off back at the residence occur between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding state holidays. This policy does not apply to trips to and from dialysis or cancer treatment facilities, adult day care and to services to and from the Insight Program. These appointments can occur at any time.

How Can a Member or Caregiver Request Transportation?
Member reservation line Online via the Member Services Website: Trips must be booked 48 business hours in advance. Trips can be booked in advance up to 30 days in advance.

Modes of Transportation
Types of non-emergency transportation Bus/Mass Transit Residence and medical facility is within ½ mile of a bus stop Member can walk ½ mile and can understand common signs and directions Members over the age of 70 are exempt 2. Ambulatory Member can walk but is unable to take the bus Member uses cane, walker, wheelchair but is able to transfer into a vehicle with minimal assist 3. Wheelchair The member can sit up but cannot walk or transfer, uses a wheelchair, and requires a lift-equipped or roll-up wheelchair van with the assistance of trained personnel
