3. Thermometer
This tool measures the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius. It tells you if it is hot or cold and helps when deciding what to wear.

This tool measures the amount of precipitation, or rainfall. Too much rain can lead to a flood. It is important for meteorologists to know how much it has rained.

5. Wind Vane
This tool measures the direction of the wind. This lets meteorologists know which direction a storm will move. Pilots and sailors also need to know the direction of the wind.

6. Barometer
This tool measures the air pressure. Higher air pressure means it will be sunny and dry. Lower air pressure means it is about to rain.
