2. Order alert #1
Patient has not been tested in the last 7 days if negative and 30 days if positive
This alerts the provider that there may be alternate causes of diarrhea and to consider these before placing the order
Note: order will be cancelled if not collected within 24 hour after the order (rationale: this will diminish opportunity to collect a sample several days later when the patient may not qualify for c-diff testing due to less than 3 diarrheal liquid stools within 24 hours)

3. Order alert #2
This order will alert the provider that the test has been negative in the last 7 days and will not allow a reorder
Also shows provider alternate causes of diarrhea

4. Order alert #3
If the patient has tested positive in the last 30 days, order will not be available to be placed
We do not test for cure

C-diff testing will not be available to nursing from 11p-6a
C-diff is not an urgent test
C-diff testing should be evaluated by the main team taking care of the patient during the day
