Rotary District 1420 Application of a Scholarship from District Grants The District may award scholarships from the District Grants on the basis of submitted applications primarily for implementing purposes corresponding with the ideology of Rotary. Scholarships are appropriated e.g. to students and to persons who are improving their professional competence. The scholarships are appropriated for coming studies; not retrospectively. The District Council decides annually on the amount of the scholarships. To day the amount is € per applicant.

Any person, or a Rotary club may apply for a scholarship to a nominated person inside or outside the Rotary. In the case that the applicant is a Rotary club, the club is supposed to support the applicant with an equal sum of money (50/50). A Rotarian as well as a member of his/her family may also apply for a scholarship, but they are primarily awarded to others than the members of the club and the members of their family. In any case the applicant shall contact a Rotary club in District 1420, and the application will be made in cooperation with the club. The TRF Committee of the District decides on the approved scholarships. The scholarships are declared as vacant for application annually in January. The applications must be sent to the TRF Committee on April 30 at the latest and the decisions are informed to the applicant before May 31.

A free-form application shall include at least the following information: personal data and the studies finished earlier, the relevant working experience, etc. (copies of certificates) detailed plan for the use of the scholarship and the time table of the project estimated total costs of the planned project social or other significance of the project, the engagement of the applicant to the project, etc.

After the scholarship project has been finished the recipient is liable to draw up a detailed report to the TRF Committee about the use of the scholarship funds within 3 months since the project has been finished. If it is discovered, that the fund has been used to a purpose which is not in accordance with the application, the recipient is liable to pay the sum of the fund back to the District.
