Why we want to go? For children to experience outdoor cross- curricular learning. To broaden the children’s learning in a different environment. To experience local history. To build on PHSE/teamwork. To explore the geographical location rather than pictures. For children to experience outdoor learning as some may not have the opportunity to do this within the family environment. Through experiential learning the children’s knowledge is deepened and they have a greater understanding of the local vicinity. The children will also learn about their local history in accordance to the new National Curriculum. Follow up work can be completed during PHSE and the use of teamwork during the trip. Children will experience the geographical landscape, something that would not be as successful as if they were in the classroom looking at pictures.
