Homework: Given out on Fridays, to be returned on Wednesdays. Children are to complete their homework in their Homework Book (stick any worksheets in) or CGP Maths book. Please date and sign homework. Children will be given the standard weekly Spellings and Times Tables homework, alongside a piece of English and the CGP Maths Exercise. Please feel free to comment in your child’s Reading Record/ Homework Book or on Class Dojo on how your child has found the homework task.
6
Reading: It is essential that children bring their reading books to school each day. The Class Teacher/ Mrs Solway will listen to your child read within a guided reading session each week. Guided reading will be a taught session and will use a book of a higher level to provide more challenge. Children will also have the opportunity to change their individual reading books throughout the week. Please support your child by encouraging them to read on a daily basis, for a minimum of 15 minutes, and signing their Reading Record on a weekly basis.
7
Seating and Assessment:
Children will have specific places according to the lesson, these are reviewed regularly. The group places the children will work in will be continually monitored using on-going assessments. Changes will be made if necessary, depending on assessment results. If you are worried, we would be happy to discuss this with you at a convenient time.
8
Swimming: Children will participate in weekly swimming lessons until Christmas, these will occur on Thursdays. It is essential that children remember their swimming kit for their swimming lesson. It is not optional! If your child is unable to swim due to illness, please send a written letter addressed to their Class Teacher.
9
PE and Games: Outdoor PE kit is required on Wednesdays. Indoor PE kit should be in school at all times as this may be required for other purposes. Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit. All kit should be clearly named. Kits will be kept in school at all times and will be sent home at the end of each half term.
10
Communication: Information will be sent home via , text, Class Dojo and/or letter. We may also use your child’s Reading Record to communicate personally with you, so please check these regularly. If you want to speak to your child’s Class Teacher personally or need to discuss a matter at length then please contact school in the usual way to request an appointment at a mutually convenient time.
