7 What is Waste? Anything that doesn’t belong in an environment

Use biodegradable soap Dispose of waste water Strain first Disperse in tidal zone or 100 ft from fresh water or Concentrate in sump hole

9 #4 Leave What You Find Take only pictures, leave only footprints.
Leave flowers, rocks and all other natural features undisturbed. Respect cultural sites – shell middens

10 #5 Minimize Campfire Impacts
Bring a backpacking stove and use it If fires are necessary, consider pit fire in tidal zone – burn all wood, disperse ash Collect small pieces of driftwood in tidal zone – only if it is regenerated often

11 #6 Respect Wildlife Stay at 200 yards from whales, seals and birds. Avoid nesting and rest areas Do not feed wildlife, pack out all uneaten food. Store food in well-sealed containers, suspended from tree branches -12 feet above ground, 10 feet away from trunk.

12 #7 Be Considerate of Others
Share the beach – keep kayaks together Respect people’s desire for solitude. Keep noise down. If you must listen to music, use headphones. Use bright gear and apparel only when on the water.
