2. General Requirements for NY State
must be at least 18 years of age
AND
meet education, experience & examination requirements (next few slides)
pay certification fee
submit application and forms for certification

3. Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s or Higher Degree
Education: successfully complete an approved program in dietetics-nutrition (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics)
Experience: 800 hours (minimum) of planned/approved work experience

4. Education & Experience Requirements (continued)
Associate’s Degree
Education: ACEND-approved associate’s degree program completion in dietetics.
Experience: completion of a combination of 10 full-time equivalent years of education and supervised experience within 15 years of application

5. Examination Requirements:
Successful passing of Registered Dietitian (RD) Examination OR
Successful passing of Certifying examination offered by the Certification Board for Nutrition Specialists.
