A little bit of history…
The school first opened on this site in 1914! We have grown a lot since then. New headteacher in September 2012. At our recent Ofsted we were judged as ‘good’. We are now on our journey to make the school even better. Our mission statement is…

You can start applying from 14th November 2016 (either on-line or paper version) The closing date is 15 January 2017 We have 38 places and places are given based on the criteria as set out in the policy. You will be notified on 18th April 2017.

Our Admissions Criteria
a. Looked after children (previously LAC). b. Children who live within the Parish of Little Clacton. c. Children who have a brother or sister living at the same address currently attending the school. Remaining applications d. In the event of over subscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to the school

Starting in September 2017 Meeting held to explain procedures and packs given out (July). Children all begin together: they can have a staggered entry or start full-time straight- away.

Teaching and learning at Engaines
Free-flow play Letters and Sounds- a phonics program. Foster independence. Part of the whole school. Lots of parental involvement. Foster a love of learning, particularly reading for pleasure.

What makes Engaines special?
Happy, well-behaved children! Village school. Extended school provision- Breakfast Club and Teatime Club. Staff that are committed to raising achievement for all.
