New Reading List Software coming from February 2017
Makes the creation and maintenance of reading lists easier for instructors Bridges the gap between instructors, students, and the library surrounding course resources, connecting reading lists to resources, and instructors to librarians Enables online collaboration for academic staff, students, and librarians, increasing student engagement Enables the library to become a more active partner in the teaching and learning process, and thus to optimally address the institution’s academic goals. Works with our new library system and with Sulis and Moodle
20
Current process Lists are compiled by faculty and printed or uploaded to VLE without links or availability information, and out of sight of library staff Faculty librarians send s to confirm edition details s & Excel/Word lists between faculty librarians & individual faculty or administrators Library staff check availability and editions Order is placed by support staff
21
Future Process Embedded in VLE with direct links to multimedia and to live catalogue. Orders can be triggered from VLE as well as notes to library e.g. digitisation requests. Enables student discussion around readings. Lists can be detailed and responsive, & can be updated with notes from the lecturer e.g. ‘Read pp for Tues. Note author’s use of …’ More and better reading by students
