2. Introductory Observations
It has been my contention that God does not generally tell people specifically who to marry
But that the Spirit of God, through the Word of God, equips us to make wise and right decisions
And the Spirit of God conforms us to the Son of God, by teaching us the Word of God
Therefore, we become the best spouses, by becoming the best believers

3. A word about gender in Proverbs
Solomon does say more specifically about bad wives, than he does about bad husbands
Neither is a there a concise, high standard set for husbands, as there is for wives: Proverbs 31
That does not make Solomon sexist: although he no doubt was, by our standards. Our standards don’t matter. God’s do.
Solomon portrays most vices as being committed by men
Solomon finds the embodiment of wisdom, distinctly feminine: Proverbs 1; 8; and 9

He is a man who truly seeks to learn and obey the Word of God
