PHRDW Review (1) “The PHRDW is a secure environment wherein communicable disease and other relevant data, originating from multiple existing databases, are available in a linked and organized form at a single, central location. Access to data in the PHRDW is only available to end users via a Data Mart. A Data Mart is defined as a discrete, subset of the data sourced from the PHRDW and developed to address a specific business need. Data Marts provide Authorized Users with the ability to view, analyze and report linked data from the various source systems feeding the PHRDW.” Excerpt from the PHRDW ISA

PHRDW Review (2) “First Nations public health data is included in this Information Sharing Agreement; however, access and use of this data at the individual or community level is subject to additional approval requirements…” “…Use of First Nations Data at the individual, community or population level for any purpose outlined above requires approval from the PHRDW Governance Committee, which includes a representative from the Panorama Data Governance Committee.” Excerpt from the PHRDW ISA

PHRDW Data Access Request (1)
Requestor: Laura MacDougall, Chair PHRDW Data Stewardship Committee Access Request Type: Improve Data Quality Summary: “The BCCDC PHRDW project team is requesting temporary access to First Nations identifiers derived from Panorama, for the purpose of validating TB data recently converted and added into Panorama. This data review will involve a systematic population level analysis to compare counts by region, as well as other variables including age and sex variables.” “First Nations identifiers are currently staged in PHRDW along with all communicable disease data; however, these variables are by default not viewable. Access to First Nations identifiers is only available on a case-by-case basis, and requires additional approval from the appropriate First Nations data steward.”

PHRDW Data Access Request (2)
“It is recommended that First Nations data within Panorama be validated for data quality purposes, in advance of the use of this data by authorized users in a reporting environment such as PHRDW. It would be efficient for this validation to occur at the same time as other attributes of importance to TB are being validated.” “Access would be provided to two team members responsible for performing the validation: a PHRDW business analyst; and an epidemiologist with subject matter expertise in TB data.” Requesting approval from: Dr. Evan Adams in his role as FNHSO Data Governance Committee Representative

PHRDW Data Access Request (3)
Suggested process for authorizing request: Ensure there are no concerns from FNHSO Principle Data Stewards (on this call and any responses to distributed on May 6th) If there are concerns, explore them further If no concerns, let Evan know so that he can provide an approval signature on the data access request document and return it to Laura MacDougall Report the results of the data quality assessment back to the FNHSO Data Governance Forum
