10 Inside the AQM 65

11 How is the AQM 65 different?
Assess and select best of breed sensors e.g. GSS for O3, NO2, NOx, GSE for CO Add scrubbers and zero cycle to remove interferences and correct for drift Maintain sensors at a constant temperature +/- 0.2 degrees C Field calibration against Standard Reference Materials.

12 Traditional vs Aeroqual
Traditional Fixed Stations Aeroqual AQM 65 US$ K to install US$ 10K per year to run Large site requirements High power consumption Skilled expertise to operate Limited sampling density Reference data “A+” More than 5x lower cost More than 5x less to run Compact and relocatable Low power requirements Easy to operate remotely High density networks possible Near-Reference data “A”

13 Other Sensors vs Aeroqual
Low cost sensors Aeroqual AQM 65 US$10K to install Variable data quality Unproven in hot, humid, and cold climates Sensors replaced 6 – 12 months Unable to measure ozone US$30K to install Near reference data quality Temperature controlled (-35°C to 50°C) Sensor modules serviced months Excellent ozone measurement

28 AQS 1, Zhejiang PM2.5 Test Data
R2 = 0.78

29 Factory calibration Calibration is a significant production cost.
Slope and intercept variation distributed around 1 and 0 with a normal distribution. Tradeoff: time vs accuracy. Existing process for O3: sd at zero = 2 ppb sd of slope = 0.03

30 Calibration process Sensors are batch calibrated.
Each sensor has its own individual calibration uploaded and stored in onboard memory Slope and zero follow a normal distribution and acceptance is determined by +/- 1 σ. For O3 calibration σslope < 0.03 σzero < 2 ppb
