Study Island ribbons to work on this week:
O.W.L. “Our Weekly Letter” Ms. Ives’ 4th Grade Class March 13th –17th, 2017 Blended Learning: Instructional Focus: Math- Multiplying mixed numbers by a whole number, multistep division number stories, division measurement number stories. Reading- Essential Question: “How do traditions connect people?” Genre: Historical Fiction Strategies: rereading, determining a theme; Latin roots Writing- Country Report begins. Students will select a country in which they will research this week. Starting next week, students will begin to write a research expository essay about a country of their choice Science- Invention Process review and assessment Social Studies- Nevada Our Home: Chapter 10 review and assessment Each week, students are expected to meet their blended learning goals. The goals are as followed: ST Math- 5% weekly, Study Island- 3 ribbons weekly, Power Readers- 2 points weekly. By the end of this week, students should be at 100% on ST Math, 50 points on Power Reader, and 78 ribbons on Study Island. Leading the Pack in Blended Learning: ST Math- Alex is at 90%! Awesome job! Study Island- Mustafa currently has 81 Blue Ribbons! Great work! Power Readers- Mustafa has a total of 48.0 AR points total! Wow! Important Information: This Friday, March 17th is a half day due to Data Day. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 am. This Friday is also “Jean and Green Day” in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day! Students may wear jeans and a green top. STAR testing for both reading and math will take place between March 13th-March 24th. We will take the STAR Math test this week. We are so excited to see students’ growth since the last STAR tests! March 24th report cards will be sent home. We are so close to reaching 100% as a class on ST Math! If your child has not completed ST Math, please help me to encourage them to complete the program! Please encourage your students to work on to ST Math and Study Island at home as often as possible. Check out MyOn for a digital library containing thousands of books that your students can choose from! Because we are now focusing on points for Power Readers instead of crest pieces, encourage your students to read ANY book that they enjoy! Let’s get our kids reading! Program Graduates: ST Math- Eden, Rylie, Brooklyn B., Abree, Gavin, Alia, Jimmy, Kaniyah, Vaedynce, Mustafa, Jack, Davi, Gage, Liliana, Lillian, Eric, Camille, Brooklin, Tyler, and Gabriel have all completed ST Math and are at 100%! Study Island- Liliana, Davi, Gage, Eden, Eric, Gabriel, Brooklin C. and Tyler have completed all 90 ribbons! Power Readers- Camille, Gavin, Liliana, Eden, Gage, Eric, Gabe, and Tyler have all met the goal of earning 60 points! This Week’s Latin Roots Study Island ribbons to work on this week: 1. man: hand, 2. tort: twist, 3. retro: backward, 4. cur: care for, 5. sens: feel Math 3g. Division 4g.
