Week of: March 13th, 2017 Please make sure your student doesn’t come to school with toys or stuffed animals! Things that should be done every night at home: practice spelling words, practice math facts, read 25 minutes, and study island. I know life gets busy and this can’t happen every night but it’s the effort that counts . Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!! *Super STAR student of the week: Claire! Topic 13 practice test will be on Monday and the test will be on Tuesday. It is SO important to review this practice test and go over any questions your student may have about the equivalence and comparison of fractions! Topic 14 is all about time; including elapsed and word problems. We are now onto Lesson 20! (Last lesson in Unit 4) Comprehension Strategies: Main Ideas and Details and Infer/Predict Main Story Selection: “Life on Ice” Grammar Focus: Contractions Vocabulary Strategy: Dictionary/Glossary Vocabulary Words: shelter, layer, constant, climate, wilderness, region, unexpected, gliding, overheated, colony This week’s states: Arkansas and California Food chains and food webs are still the hot topic in science! Spelling Words (compound words): birthday, anyone, sometimes, everything, homework, afternoon, airplane, grandmother, something, without, himself, faraway, sunburned, daylight, someone, cannot Challenge: scorekeeper, everybody Important Upcoming Dates: 3/13: Lifetouch Spring Pictures in school 3/20: 2 hr. late start 3/21: Pizza Pete orders in 3:00-5:30 PM 3/30: End of 3rd Quarter (AR goals due!) 4/13: Last day of Extended Day 4/14 – 4/18: No School; Spring Break 4/24: MCA testing begins
