1 What does Act 1 Scene 6 tell us about how Macbeth treats his wife?

2 What you should have already established in your analysis of Act 1 Scene 5 about how Macbeth treats his wife: Based on equality Affectionate and loving Lady Macbeth knows her husband very well but he perhaps does not know her so well Macbeth trusts Lady Macbeth but she does not have so much faith in him He treats her with loyalty Macbeth does not contradict or oppose his wife’s views They communicate openly and do not keep secrets Lady Macbeth has more power and control

3 Act 1 Scene 6 What can Lady Macbeth’s appearance and behaviour and Macbeth’s absence tell us about how he treats his wife? Lady Macbeth takes charge of welcoming Duncan so Macbeth allows her to be in control and have authority in the relationship. Is Macbeth’s absence a sign that he is worried or thinking about what his wife has told him? Or that he totally trusts and relies on his wife to win Duncan’s trust? Is Macbeth dependent on his wife?
