6 Macbeth’s Diary Entry

7 Macbeth’s Diary Entry ARMITA: Dear diary,
Today has been such a peculiar day – yet quite fascinating. So strange, that I cannot keep it in. Thou shan’t believe me but everything I say is true. Being stopped by three hot headed hags has planted a seed that cannot be tamed. I cannot be king, can I? LUIS: Banquo and I strode through the cold and icy moor. The snow covered our ankles, so we struggled in our heavy blood stained armour. All that we were able to hear was the sound of our footsteps crunching in the hardened, dirty snow.

8 Macbeth’s Diary Entry ANISHA:
As the wind sighed and whispered, the branches creaked eerily in the breeze. As Banquo and I continued striding in the cold, melting chips of ice hammered on my head and face and streamed down the back of my neck. MAKS: Banquo, my good friend lost his footing. “Come on!” I shouted, “thou can do this!” But as I helped him up, three figures stood behind him. ALEXEY: Three gnarled, old decaying hags stared at me with their dark, hypnotizing eyes, their rags fluttering like flayed skin in the dark and stormy night. Banquo and I brandished our swords to slay these creatures if we could.

9 Macbeth’s Diary Entry MAKS:
They croaked words I could hardly understand. “All hail Macbeth, hail to thee thane of Glames.” How does this woman know my title? Had they been stalking us through the moors? “All hail Macbeth, hail to thee thane of Cawdor,” another groaned. “All hail Macbeth who shalt be king.” At this moment I was confused. An unfamiliar urge came over me; the thought of a crown being placed on my head had been planted in my mind. Just as I was going to reply, Banquo piped up, “What nonsense is this?” One of them turned to him and said, “Although you shall not be king, your sons shalt.”

10 Macbeth’s Diary Entry ARMITA:
I asked for more information but the fog grew and they disappeared. These words confused me but why would I be greeted so prophetically? I did not understand how I could be king when we already had a king. These thoughts alarmed me – would my best friend’s child kill me? ALEXEY: We looked at each other with suspicion. I wished for Banquo’s comfort once again but that thought was soon displaced by the thought of becoming king. The witches’ seed had now been planted into my mind.

11 Lady Macbeth’s point of view

12 Lady Macbeth’s point of view
KIAN: I think Macbeth should kill King Duncan because he is destined to be King. We will be royals and I will be queen. I can just imagine me on the throne ruling over my soon-to-be country. I must convince him to kill Duncan…I just hope Macbeth can face murdering an ally so close to him. JINJU: I have to make sure no-one gets in the way of making him king. Macbeth should, no MUST kill Duncan. If Macbeth becomes King, I will finally rule a kingdom.

13 Agony Aunt letter

14 Agony Aunt Letter NAFISA Dear Agony Aunt I am a Scottish Thane, known for my bravery and loyalty across the land. I have recently been named the Thane of Cawdor. I find myself in a troubled position caught between two equally important people in my life: my dear wife and my noble king. AALIYAH: Yesterday it was foretold that I would become king, even though I have no hereditary claim to the throne. Ever since I told my wife the news, she has been pestering and emotionally blackmailing me to commit a crime.

15 Agony Aunt Letter ABDUL-AZIM: On the one hand, I don’t want to betray the king because I have been a very loyal kinsman to Duncan, so that I’m in fact like family to him. I have served him for many years, so to kill him would be like killing my own flesh and blood. Since the death of my father he has been treating me like his own son. MEGI: On the other hand, I really want to retain the love of my wife but I don’t know who to choose. SAMAH: As wise as I am, I feel confused as to what I should. As a result of the recent events, I’m feeling emotionally exhausted, pressured and taunted. I don’t know what to do or who to trust anymore. Please advise me, should I kill the king and make my wife happy or should I not kill him but risk ruining my relationship?

16 Agony Aunt Letter MEGI: Exhausted with all of this weight put on my shoulders I feel like I’m not in control. AALIYAH: My moral judgment is withering away and leaving me with nothing. Until now, I have been a mess and still will be without your help. What do you think I should do? Please respond. Yours faithfully Thane of Cawdor and Glamis

18 The Balanced Argument CONNOR:
Macbeth has to weigh up conflicting arguments about whether he should assassinate or spare his master. To be or not to be… king. SABRINA: He has to deal with his wife – that gives him a lot of pressure, the witches’ prophecy and his ambition (which he wants to fulfill) in making his decision. CONNOR: In this balanced argument we will examine both sides of the debate. STELLA: Macbeth who has two titles for his bravery and courage, has been thinking about killing the king. However, his ambitions are taking control of him. People suggest that Macbeth should be patient about killing the king.

19 The Balanced Argument MARIFAH:
In addition King Duncan is a noble, kind and worthy man. He is generous and kind to all of his people and servants. He also treats Macbeth like his own brother. No one can deny that Lady Macbeth, Macbeth’s wife, is constantly putting pressure on Macbeth by saying that he’s less than a man and more of a coward, if Macbeth doesn’t follow her steps. SABRINA : He gets taunted and manipulated by her due to this situation. On the other hand, if Macbeth were a real man, he would have stood up for himself and done the right thing.

20 The Balanced Argument JANA: Moreover if she truly loved him, she wouldn’t use Macbeth for power and ambition. MARIFAH: Another major factor that is affecting Macbeth’s decision is the witches’ prophecy. CONNOR: Macbeth is having trouble visualizing reality after his encounter with the three crones, as they play the key role in this deep pressure that he is feeling. He was undoubtedly very disturbed and affected by his meeting with three hags and the seeds they planted in his head of the prophecy they spoke of.

21 The Balanced Argument STELLA: On the other hand, if he were stable man, he would’ve dismissed their ramblings like his friend, Banquo. JANA: To conclude Macbeth obviously has a lot weighing on his mind and is in a tough position. To kill or not to kill – that is the question.

22 Witches’ Rap Fillet of a fenny snake, In the caldron boil and bake; Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog, Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting, Lizard’s leg, and owlet’s wing,— For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble. Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble.

23 Maks’s rap A sprinkle of this A handful of that Throw in a bit of urine from a bat Mixed with a dab of droppings from a cat Stir the potion as you throw in a rat Ready for the victim to drink it right down Don’t worry you wont be left with a frown Double, double Toil and trouble, Fire burn and cauldron bubble!

24 Madinah’s rap A sprinkle of dogs A handful of frogs Throw in lungs of witches Mixed with soil from ditches Stir the potion so it’s revolting and boiled Ready for the powerful bubble Double, double Toil and trouble, Fire burn and cauldron bubble!
