Student products – book talks, podcasts, website w/ products linked, show use technology

8 Positives Collaboration Spread quickly to non grant teachers. Increased collaboration in all areas. Access to technology Teachers found they unexpectedly liked new technologies. Students learned new skills. Success: + use spread to non grant teachers, teachers embraced things initially didn’t like, increased collaboration across board too popular, too much to do w/# teachers, lack of time to do other new projects, etc, not quite enough equip., forced to pick some items not used yet, mp3 players and video camera, too many grade levels involved.

9 Teacher Comments “When Classroom Performance Systems are used in conjunction with Smart Boards, transitions are seamless.” “If my student hadn’t learned how to use moviemaker, she never would have entered the technology fair. She won first place, first at state in the Multimedia Applications division, and a laptop.” “I only wanted in on the grant because I wanted a CPS, but if you try to take my Smart Board away from me now, you’ll lose a body part!” “I know I’m not a grant teacher, but….” Bri Young—state technology fair winner. Lakeisha Gardner won a second at state with her project.

10 Negatives Popularity of projects Spending so much time on projects started, have not been able to try others Broad spectrum of grade levels and subject area content Access to technology Teachers felt a larger number of laptops would be more effective Variety of equipment somewhat daunting to incorporate Success: + use spread to non grant teachers, teachers embraced things initially didn’t like, increased collaboration across board - too popular, too much to do w/# teachers, lack of time to do other new projects, etc, not quite enough equip., forced to pick some items not used yet, mp3 players and video camera, too many grade levels involved.
