2. What is Schizophrenia? The most complex and severe
psychological disorder known.
Affects 1 in 100 people.
(1 in 10 if it runs in the family)
Definition: A group of disorders characterized by confused and distorted thoughts, emotions, and perceptions.

3. What is Schizophrenia? Characteristics:
Delusions: false beliefs maintained in the face of contrary evidence.
Hallucinations: perceptions in the absence of sensation. (i.e., hear voices, see visions)
Disturbances in affect (inappropriate emotions).
Normal movement deteriorates.
Diverted attention.
Lower functioning lifestyle in general.

time. Body loosens slowly,
like a melting wax statue.

A LEGAL term in which a person is deemed to have been “insane” during the time they committed a crime, meaning they did not understand reality or the difference between right and wrong.
Mainly in cases of murder or other violent acts.
Often these cases receive a lot of media attention.
