Bellinger: “A Smart Indian is a dangerous person, Widely feared and ridiculed by Indians and non-Indians alike” What does this quote mean and why is it significant? Today is Friday, August 16, 2013 Please remember there is no talking during the Bellringer.

You will complete the discussion questions at the bottom of the page. You have 10 minutes to complete this assignment. Remember my rules for group work: 1. Talk only to your group members. 2. Read the following essay independently, annotating as you go. Remember, when we annotate we: 1. Put a question mark beside any unfamiliar words or phrases we don’t understand. 2. Highlight or star anything that stands out to you or gives important information about a character or event. 3. Write a brief summary at the end of each paragraph.

6 Homework Finish reading and annotating “Learning to Read” by Malcolm X. Then complete the Malcolm X Discussion Questions. Both assignments are due Tuesday, August 20th.
