For each paragraph, are they: Establishing ethos? Creating pathos? Using logos? Establishing context or exigence? Using a specific rhetorical mode? Developing a theme or message? Using anecdote? Manipulating diction? HOW?

4 Rhetorical Analysis Chart

What does the strategy do for the reader? How do they help develop her argument? BE SPECIFIC. Avoid just “they create an emotional connection/pathos. Explain how they make the reader feel.) -Learning Log Warm Up: (9/11/14): No journal today. Take out your Into the Wild book and flip it open to the last page of chapter 3.

When you leave you will: -review self-selected vocabulary. -practiced a during-reading strategy. Agenda: Warm up: Find the vocab TO DO LIST: Vocab Review Select the 5 words you most struggle with. Complete the vocab review & have Mrs. Matheny check off Chapter 5: Chunk up chapter 5 into 5 sections. Begin reading Chapter 5 & complete the Reciprocal Teaching handout as you go. Turn it in when you’re finished. Learning Log: (Dates: 9/8-12) Your choice! Homework: Study vocab, finish reading chapter 5. Quiz on TUESDAY.
