2 Greece! Many stories that are still famous today about heroes and monsters came from Ancient Greece, including the story of Medusa.

3 Medusa was a monster who lived in a cave. She had snakes on her head
Medusa was a monster who lived in a cave. She had snakes on her head. When people looked at her, they turned into stone.

4 The King sent Perseus , a young man, to find Medusa and kill her
The King sent Perseus , a young man, to find Medusa and kill her. Perseus was very smart. He went to the cave with a sword and a shield. He didn’t look at Medusa directly. He looked at her reflection in his shield, and he cut off her head with his sword.

5 From her neck appeared a beautiful white horse with golden wings called Pegasus. Perseus returned to the King, riding Pegasus, and took Medusa’s head to him.

6 Russia! Tchaikovsky Russia has a very interesting musical history, and some of the most famous classical composers were born there.

7 Probably the most famous Russian composer was Tchaikovsky
Probably the most famous Russian composer was Tchaikovsky. He wrote the music for three of the most famous ballets ever: Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and The Nutcracker.

8 Anna Pavlova Anna Pavlova was a Russian ballet dancer who danced in Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. Anna studied ballet for many years and worked very hard. Her teachers soon realized that she could dance very well. She performed in ballets all over the world.

9 After a visit to Australia and New Zealand in 1926, a chef made a special dessert with her name - the delicious “pavlova.”
