Currier was a lithographer.
Lithography is a method of printing from a flat surface that has been prepared so that the ink will only stick to the design that will be printed.

Currier became the most important publisher of colored engravings.
James Ives started working with Currier as an accountant, but in1857 he joined the company as a partner. 1857

For nearly 50 years they published about 3 new prints each week on every aspect of American life.

Berthe Morisot ( ) Was an Impressionist painter. Morisot painted what she experienced on a daily basis. She focused on domestic life and portraits. She had a calmly life and died at the age of 54.

Impressionist The Impressionist movement was partially due to a new invention: the photograph. For centuries painters had worked to master techniques for the most realistic results possible. However, with cameras and photographs capable of producing exact replicas of an image, painters gained greater freedom. Artists were no longer the only means of recording an image and could choose to focus on something in their art besides realistic replication.

Characteristics: The brush strokes art are very distinctive. The lighting is often one of the most important focal points in Impressionist painting. The lines in Impressionist art are often shady and blurry. The colors in Impressionist art are fanciful or unreal.
