Using the HP ScanJet 2200c Continuing Studies CS 38 Stanford University

2 Step 1: Place original on the glass
Place the original to be scanned face-down on the scanner bed. Center the original with the top edge closest to the front of the scanner bed (i.e., upside-down).

3 Step 2: Launch HP Precision Scan LTX

4 Step 3: Under Settings, choose Resolution and change the resolution if desired

5 Step 4: Click Start a new Scan
Be patient – it may take a minute for the scanner to warm up.

6 Step 5: Click and draw a box around the object.
Unless your original fills up the entire glass area of the scanner, draw a box around your picture so only the picture will be saved.

7 Step 6: In the Where do you want the scan to go field, choose File

8 Step 7: Click Output Type to ensure the scanner is choosing the correct type of scan.

9 Step 8: Click Output Size to ensure the size of the image meets your needs. Change Units to Pixels.

10 Step 9: Click Save the scan now

11 Step 10: Save the image In the Save in: field, change to the floppy drive (or wherever on your hard drive you are storing your images) Change the Save as type to BMP, JPEG or GIF (BMP is the native Windows file format - can’t be used on a web page so you’ll have to eventually convert it to either JPEG or GIF; JPEG is best for photographs; GIF is best for line art and cartoons) Enter a file name, and press Save.

12 Step 10a: If you have chosen JPEG, enter the compression level
Step 11: Wait for the scanner to finish When the progress meter has completed, your image should now be on your floppy disk.
