The Power of a Proper Perspective
Definition of “Christian perspective”: God’s way of seeing something “God, how do You see what I see?”
14
The Power of a Proper Perspective
Biblical Examples: * Joseph and his brothers (Genesis 50:15-21) “God, how do You see what I see?”
15
The Power of a Proper Perspective
12 spies Moses sent to the Promised Land (Numbers 13) “God, how do You see what I see?”
16
The Power of a Proper Perspective
David and Goliath (I Samuel 17) “God, how do You see what I see?”
17
The Power of a Proper Perspective
Elisha and his servant (2 Kings 6:17) “God, how do You see what I see?”
18
The Power of a Proper Perspective
How Mary and Martha saw Jesus in their home (Luke 10:38-42) “God, how do You see what I see?”
19
The Power of a Proper Perspective
* 2 thieves next to Jesus (Luke 23:39-41) “God, how do You see what I see?”
20
The Power of a Proper Perspective
God’s perspective is… * BIG PICTURE --it’s not just about you --”us/we/the Church/the nations” NOT just “I/me/my family and church” Example: Joseph “God, how do You see what I see?”
21
The Power of a Proper Perspective
God’s perspective is… * SPIRITUAL --not only physical --internal, not only external Example: the Messiah “God, how do You see what I see?”
22
The Power of a Proper Perspective
God’s perspective is… * ETERNAL --not only temporal in this world --He sees the END RESULT, not just the process Example: suffering (Romans 8:18-21) “God, how do You see what I see?”
23
The Power of a Proper Perspective
Two examples… Example #1: OLD MAN… “God, how do You see what I see?”
24
The Power of a Proper Perspective
Example #2: Hassan… “God, how do You see what I see?”
25
The Power of a Proper Perspective
If you own just one Bible, you are abundantly blessed. One- third of the world does not have access to even one. If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who will not survive the week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 500 million people around the world. “God, how do You see what I see?”
26
The Power of a Proper Perspective
If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish some place, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy. If you attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest or torture or death, you are more blessed that almost three billion people in the world. “God, how do You see what I see?”
27
The Power of a Proper Perspective
If your parents are still married and alive, you are very rare If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not. If you prayed yesterday and today, you are in the minority because you believe in God's willingness to hear and answer prayer. “God, how do You see what I see?”
28
The Power of a Proper Perspective
If you believe in Jesus as the Son of God, you are part of a very small minority in the world. If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read anything at all. -- Illustrations, “God, how do You see what I see?”
29
The Power of a Proper Perspective
“God, how do You see… --me? my enemies? my job? my loneliness? my financial situation? my part in the Church? my marriage? my part in missions? my parenting? my giving? my relationships with others? my emotional trials? “God, how do You see what I see?”
