2.1. LISTENING COMPREHENSION National Examination Format TASKS
Let‘s work on listening now. Open your student‘s books. Look at ex. 3. p. 7. Listen to the text „Famous Artists.“ 1.Say which of the statements are true, false or not mentioned in the text: Vincent Van Gogh was born, worked and died in the 19 th century; Leonardo da Vinci was not interested in science and engineering; Michelangelo Buonarotti knew a lot about anatomy; Art critics called Claude Monet‘s style Cubism; Rembrandt had not got a family. 2. Tell us which pronouns are used in the text. Call types of these pronouns. Say which sentences with these pronouns you remember. Make up your own sentences with these pronouns.

2.2. GRAMMAR MATERIAL Pronoun “One”
1. One can be used in general statements where it means everyone, anyone. One never knows what his answer may be 2. After this, that one replaces a countable noun in the singular and ones – a countable noun in the plural. Have you read the new book in our library? Is that the one on history of Ancient Greece? 3. One and ones are used to identify people or things, often after which. Which apple would you like? I want this red one. 4. One is not used when referring to uncountable nouns. Do you listen to rock music or classical music? I listen to rock music.

We often use one to avoid repeating the noun. Read and translate the dialogues. Work in pairs. Make up your own dialogue and act it. A There are two apples left on the plate. Which one would you like? B Ill take the best one. A This one or that one? B Id like the green one. A Which men do you mean? This one in black clothes or that one in white clothes? B I want to speak about this one in black clothes.
