1 Estimating Square Roots
What is a perfect square? Give some examples. A perfect square is a number that has integers as its square roots.

2

3 Common Core #2 Use rational approximations of irrational numbers to locate them on a number line diagram, and estimate the value of to the nearest tenth.

4 Number Line Diagram Extend it out to -10 and 10!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 Estimating Square Roots
Without using a calculator, (1)find the two integers that the square root of any number is between (2) estimate the square root of the number to the nearest tenth (3) place the value on a number line

6 Estimating Square Roots
27 What two perfect squares is the square root of 27 between? Estimate the value to the nearest tenth. Place the value on the number line. Estimate = 5.2

7 Estimating Square Roots
12 What two perfect squares is the square root of 12 between? Estimate the value to the nearest tenth. Place the value on the number line. Estimate = 3.5
