Grammar Practice The simple subject is the main word or group of words in the complete subject. Ex. A dog with this pedigree is usually nervous. Complete subject: A dog with his pedigree; simple subject: dog

Grammar Practice How to find the subject of a sentence?
It’s easier to locate the simple subject if you pick the verb first. Ex. The shutters on that house are painted green. Ask yourself who or what are painted?

Quick Write Imagine Odysseus in our society today-as a guest in your home. For example, how would you treat him? What would you tell him about the dangers and the pleasures of the world? Suggest some jobs you think he might be suited for and a place you think he might want to live. You must include two of your vocabulary words from the previous books.
