3. Graduating with honors
Regular Diploma with Honors
In order to graduate with a Regular Diploma with Honors, students must satisfy all requirements for a regular diploma AND score at or above all of the following ACT subject area readiness benchmarks (or equivalent SAT scores).  Acceptable scores may be used from more than one ACT test.

4. To graduate “with Distinction”
Meet all requirements for regular diploma, earn a GPA of 85 or higher, AND complete one of the following:
Nationally recognized industry certification
Participate in one of the Governor’s Schools
Participate in an All State musical organization
Participate in Boys or Girls State
Attain an ACT composite score of 31 or higher
Score a 3 or higher on 2 or more AP exams
Earn 12 or more hours of college credit (example: Dual Enrollment)
Be a National Merit Finalist or Semi-Finalist
Meet requirements for TN Scholar
Vanderbilt School for Science & Math graduate
Cambridge diploma

5. Should I take Advanced academic classes?
If you are breezing through a class with an A, or maybe a high B, and you want to be more challenged and work at a faster pace next year, you should consider taking an advanced level course
Talk to your current teachers about what they recommend
These classes are MORE challenging and require more homework, so only choose them if you are willing to work hard from August to May
If you’ve never taken an advanced level class, but to want to, we recommend starting with 1 or 2 Advanced Academic level classes in your strongest subject areas
