What is hybrid learning?
A hybrid learning instructional model combines up to three methods of learning into one classroom – instruction from teachers, collaborative group activities, and self-instruction through digital content. In hybrid classrooms, teachers work with smaller groups – personalizing instruction, creating more one-on-one time with students, utilizing data to drive instruction, and exposing students to various learning modalities.

Characteristics of hybrid learning environments
Typically, students rotate through three stations during the class period: Direct Instruction - In direct instruction, teachers are given the independence to focus on smaller groups for lessons. This allows the teachers to have more one-on-one time with each student. Collaborative Learning - Meanwhile, a second group participates in a collaborative group activity corresponding to that day’s lesson, helping to build teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Independent Learning - At the same time, another group of students are learning independently in a supervised online environment utilizing digital content, quizzes and other tools. This digital content gives teachers real-time data about their students’ understanding and performance, so they can focus instruction accordingly.
