1 In that Day/ The Essentials of the Gospel
Isaiah 27-28

2 ‎Isaiah 26:20-21 “Go home, my people, and lock your doors! Hide yourselves for a little while until the LORD’s anger has passed. Look! The LORD is coming from heaven to punish the people of the earth for their sins. The earth will no longer hide those who have been killed. They will be brought out for all to see.”

3 Isaiah 27:1 “In that day the LORD with His severe sword, great and strong, will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan that twisted serpent; And He will slay the reptile that is in the sea.”

4 “In the coming day of the Lord, Jehovah will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent (Assyria), Leviathan that twisted serpent (Babylon), and He will slay the reptile that is in the sea (Egypt).” William MacDonald

5 Isaiah 27:2-12 “In that day, sing about the fruitful vineyard. I, the LORD, will watch over it, watering it carefully. Day and night I will watch so no one can harm it. My anger will be gone. If I find briers and thorns growing, I will attack them; I will burn them up—” ‎

6 The time is coming when Jacob’s descendants will take root.
“unless they turn to Me for help. Let them make peace with Me; yes, let them make peace with Me.” The time is coming when Jacob’s descendants will take root. Israel will bud and blossom and fill the whole earth with fruit! ‎ Has the LORD struck Israel as He struck her enemies?”

7 “Has He punished her as He punished them
“Has He punished her as He punished them? ‎No, but He exiled Israel to call her to account. She was exiled from her land as though blown away in a storm from the east. The LORD did this to purge Israel’s wickedness, to take away all her sin. As a result, all the pagan altars will be crushed to dust.”

8 “No Asherah pole or pagan shrine will be left standing
“No Asherah pole or pagan shrine will be left standing. ‎The fortified towns will be silent and empty, the houses abandoned, the streets overgrown with weeds. Calves will graze there, chewing on twigs and branches. The people are like the dead branches of a tree,”

9 “broken off and used for kindling beneath the cooking pots.
Israel is a foolish and stupid nation, for its people have turned away from God. Therefore, the One who made them will show them no pity or mercy.”

10 Brook of Egypt in the west.”
“Yet the time will come when the LORD will gather them together like handpicked grain. One by one He will gather them—from the Euphrates River in the east to the Brook of Egypt in the west.”

11 “For the Lord disciplines the one He loves,
Hebrews 12:6 “For the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and chastises every son whom He receives.”

12 27:2-6, He speaks of Israel as His restored vineyard and how He, as the Vinedresser, will protect it and watch it produce fruit to bless the world. 27:7-9, His intense discipline was motivated by His unconditional covenant love so to purify His people allowing them to worship Him and Him alone and crushing their idols to dust.

13 27:10-11, Their beloved Jerusalem and Israel will be in ruins.
The city of man or the world system will be destroyed. Should we not take heed to this? Should we be putting our hope in the world’s ways and understanding? Or the eternal that is built by God?

14 27:12-13, “In a coming day, the Lord will thresh the true and the false within the land of Israel. Then He will regather those Jews who are dispersed in such Gentile nations as Assyria and Egypt. Back in the land, they will come to Jerusalem to worship the Lord.” William MacDonald

17 just as the Scriptures said.”
“—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place. I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. 24 Romans 5:15, “But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and His gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.”
